Who is Stop The Truck?
Their latest release, Sendero, should finally put that question to rest. For almost twenty years, Stop The Truck has been entertaining Texas and European audiences with authentic Texas country music. Previous releases by this band have included, as have many of their live shows, contributions from some of Texas’ most innovative performers.
This latest CD, however, is Stop The Truck doing what they do best. This is a four-piece rompin’-stompin’ Texas roadhouse band. This is the sound of a four piece country band with guys who have been playing together longer than many of their fans have been alive. Featuring several new contributions written by lead singer Alan Moe Monsarrat, along with several tribute covers, not the least of which are written by touring partner, Texas troubadour, Freddy Powers, the band has managed to keep their music contemporary and relevant while sticking to the core roots of Texas country.
This has never been so evident as at the debut of Sendero, first released at the internationally famous Equiblues Rodeo, in Saint-Agrève, France. Online videos confirm thousands of French country music lovers, dancing to what they called the real country acts at the event.

Song Lyrics
Be That Way
Say what you mean, mean what you say
Pick a way to be and then be that way
I don’t want to meet someone new every day
Pick a way to be and then be that way
Why do you keep hanging around
If you ain’t happy, cover some ground
You tell me to leave then you beg me to stay
Pick a way to be and then be that way
It’s too late now to change your mind
And talking that way is way out of line
You want my advice, here’s what I say
Pick a way to be and then be that way
You drove me right out of my mind
It was uncalled for and it was unkind
No need to worry ‘cause now I’m okay
Just pick a way to be and then be that way
Say what you mean, mean what you say
Pick a way to be and then be that way
I don’t want to meet someone new everyday
Pick a way to be and then be that way
Big Booty
She said I ain’t going to fix you no more sausage
Biscuits and gravy on the side
Go on and find yourself a skinny woman
You can kiss Big Booty goodbye
She said I ain’t going to fix you no more chicken
And no more mamas’ chocolate pie
You done said the wrong thing to me darling
You can kiss Big Booty goodbye
Go on and find yourself a skinny woman
Something a little more your size
But don’t come back to me moaning
When she cuts you off of burgers and fries
She said I ain’t going to fetch you no more cases
Or anything else chicken fried
Here’s something heavy for you baby
You can kiss Big Booty goodbye
Go on and find yourself a skinny woman
Something a little more your size
But don’t come back to me moaning
When she puts you on a low calorie diet
She said I ain’t going to fix you no more sausage
Biscuits and gravy on the side
Here’s something heavy for you baby
You can kiss Big Booty goodbye
Costa Brava Cowboys
In the redneck corner
Of the Jambalaya club
They’re drinking toasts to Texas
And sending all their love
They’re wearing cowboy hats and boots
‘Cause that’s what they enjoy
They’re Costa Brava cowboys
When they two-step ‘round the floor
It reminds me of my home
Deep in the heart of Texas
And I don’t feel alone
When they hoot and holler
It fills my heart with joy
They’re Costa Brava cowboys
Costa Brava cowboys are wild as Texas wind
And a Texas state of mind is the state they’re in
‘Cause they love country music and making lots of noise
They’re Costa Brava cowboys
Louisiana Moonlight
Crawdads crawling around outside the water
Alligators hiding in the reeds
This must be an evil night for crossing
That Voodoo Woman’s got a hold of me
Why the hell did I leave California
The weather their better suits my needs
But love is blind in Louisiana moonlight
I’ve got to break that hold she has on me
I’d like to buy a potion that would help me
Wear a charm to break her spell on me
But I can’t wait for miracles to happen
And nothing less would ever rescue me
I’d like to buy a potion that would help me
Wear a charm to break her spell on me
I’d be on my way to California
But I know that she’d be coming after me
Yah, that Voodoo woman’s calling out to me
Tell The Truth
You’ve been two stepping, long necking
What you going to do when the hen starts pecking on you?
Will you tell the truth?
Your Whole life is through
If you ever do tell the truth
You’ve been late-nighting, moonlighting’
What you going do when your alibi falls through?
Will you tell the truth?
‘cause your whole life is through
If you ever do tell the truth
You’ve been slipping and sliding, and creeping around
Leaving your mark all over town
The frying pan’s getting just a little to hot
Let her cool down before you get caught
Tell the truth, you must be crazy
Tell the truth, not even maybe
You’re going to be the world’s biggest fool
If you ever do tell the truth
You’ve been spot lighting, dog fighting
Writing a prescription for the blues
If you tell the truth
‘cause your whole life is through
If you ever do tell the truth
When I Paint My Masterpiece
Oh the streets of Rome are filled with rubble
Ancient footprints are everywhere
You could almost believe you’re seeing double
On a cold dark night on the Spanish Stairs
I got to hurry back down to my hotel room
Where I got me a date with a pretty little gal from Greece
She swore she’d stay there with me
When I paint my masterpiece
Oh the hours we spent by the coliseum
Dodging lions and wasting time
Oh those might kings of the jungle I could hardly stand to see them
It sure has been a cold hard climb
Train wheels are rolling in the back of my memory
As I ran on a hill top, following a flock of wild geese
Someday, everything is going to be different
When I paint my masterpiece
Sail around the world in a dirty gondola
Oh to be back in the land of Coca-Cola
Well we left Rome and we landed in Brussels
After a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried
Clergymen in uniform, young girls pulling muscles
Everyone was there to meet me when I stepped inside
Newspapermen were eating candy
And had to be held back by big police
Someday everything’s going to shine like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece
On The Redneck Rivera
Some people were born rich
I was born a poor son of a bitch
In an Alabamy bar ditch, that’s where I got my name
We never had no fancy stuff
We had a lot of barely enough
I want to tell you I was raised tough
And So I remain
Them shrimp taste fine when you net them
Red fish, well we’re glad to get them
I want to listen to the radio
That old station from Mexico
Driving piling with a steam hammer
Drinking beer at the Florabama
I could stay right here forever
On the Redneck Riviera
Walking barefoot on the sugar sands
I got a cold beer in my hand
I never want to live another way
It’s just another perfect day
Watching dolphins swimming by
As the sun runs across the sky
I could stay right here forever
On the Redneck Riviera
Losing You
There’s no such thing as sleep for jealous fools
And being jealous about someone like you
Is sort of foolish too
The life you live
Is the one you want, I guess
Losing you might be the best thing yet
The longest day I live
I’ll still be suffering from the pain
In the gutter you were making
Yourself quite a name
I wanted you and you wanted
Anyone that you could get
Losing you might be the best thing yet
Patiently I sit at home at wait
Knowing where you were and what you were doing
Turned my love to hate
My foolishness is all that I regret
Losing you might be the best thing yet
The Honky-Tonk Zone
I park my truck
I stumble in
Reality comes to an end
One thing's for sure
I'm not at home
I'm in the Honky-Tonk Zone
The clock is spinning
On the wall
Whiskey's flowin' & that ain't all
I think I just saw Dolly's clone
In the Honky-Tonk Zone
Chorus:
The Honky-Tonk Zone is another dimension
Things goin' on too strange to mention
Take a step into the great unknown
In the Honky-Tonk Zone
The smoke's so thick
Can hardly see
All the girls look good to me
I'm a first rate Romeo
In the Honky-Tonk Zone
Chorus:
On The Road To My Heart
You’re on the road, on the way to my heart
Just follow that old love light that leads you close to me
You found a way
That makes me want to stay
It makes me want to say around and never part
And when I’m feeling blue
You always know just what to do
You’re on the road to my heart
You’re on the road, on the way to my heart
Just follow that old love light that leads you close to me
You found a way
That makes me want to stay
It makes me want to say around and never part
You read my mind I guess
You’re good at bringing out my best
You’re on the road to my heart
You’re on the road to my heart
Love’s So Complicated
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
Just to get next to you
I’ve been walking down a lonesome road
Love circuit on overload
I must’ve took a lost highway
But I’m going to find you anyway
You’re just a little bit farther down the line……….
CHORUS:
Love’s so complicated
It ain’t a matter of black & white
Love’s so complicated
Let’s keep it simple tonight
Love’s so complicated
You never know if you’re wrong or right
Love’s so complicated
Hey Baby
Let’s keep it simple tonight
I’ve been working in an old salt mine
Putting in overtime
Honey, come and open up your door
I can’t wait anymore
My love’s heavy and it weighs me down
Baby, I’m underground
You’re just a little bit farther down the line……….
San Antonio Rose
I can’t wait to get back to my San Antonio rose
Everyone in Texas knows I love her from my head down to my toes
I hope I haven’t stayed away to long
And I hope that she’s not dancing to somebody else’s song
I can’t wait to get back to my San Antonio rose
That old Texas moon is shining bright
I’ll be home tomorrow night
How much I love her Texas only knows
Tell those old bluebonnets not to bloom ‘til I get home
To my San Antonio rose
Long Gone Cold Desire
When I wake up in the morning
I put the wrong foot out of my bed
Nothing in the icebox
No more Wonder bread
No coffee in the grinder, no wood to feed the fire
No love to kindle this old heart, just your long gone cold desire
Your long gone cold desire
When I think of all the time
I wasted being true
Walking that old tightrope line
Wanting only you
Now my well run out of water, no wood to feed the fire
No love to kindle this old heart just your long gone cold desire
Your long gone cold desire
As I go to sleep this evening
It's you I'm a thinking of
You talk about believing but you end up leaving love
No letter on the table, no wood to feed the fire
No love to kindle this old heart just your long gone cold desire
Your long gone cold desire
