This disc was produced during the first era of digital, read portable, multi-track recording technology. Completely produced in Austin Texas, this disc began with the basic tracks laid down in an old barn in Western Travis County. It made it's way around town, vocals and guitars were added in the studio of our own Special Ed Ferguson, tracking and editing continued at Omni Studios, with it eventually landing in Floyd Domino's living room for a taste of honky-tonk piano. This album includes many of the original songs which made Stop The Truck famous.

Song Lyrics

Foolproof
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter (Mad Moe Music / Born Liar Music)

The only mistake I ever made
Was thinkin’ I was wrong when I was right...all along
I should have listened to my nose
When my eyes saw a rose
It smelled a rat
Right off the bat

I’m foolproof baby
I see way too good
To be blind
I’m foolproof darlin’
I seen you comin’
Down the line

I’ve been around and I ain’t no square
If you wanna know where it went, I’ll take you there
Honey, I swear
I’ve seen it all and I won’t get took
I’ve spit out many a fishin’ hook
I wrote the book

I’m fool proof baby
And you better just get wise
I’m foolproof honey
There ain’t no wool
Over my eyes
Don’t even try me ‘cause I’m foolproof

I ain’t cold and I ain’t mean
But you ain’t Showin’ me nuthin’ I ain’t seen
So you better come clean
I’ve been downtown and I’ve seen the show
You can’t tell me nuthin’I don’t know
Now I’ve gotta go....

The 2-Step Program
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter (Mad Moe Music / Born Liar Music)

I never used to come in here
When she was my wife
But now it seems like I’m in here
Almost every night
But you needn’t worry ‘bout me
‘cause I’m doin’ fine
I’m on the 2-step program
To dance her off my mind

I took advice from my best friend
He swore it worked for him
Now I don’t have to make amends
For the shape I’m in
And there’s no rules about drinkin’
Or havin’ a good time
I’m on the 2-step program
To dance her off my mind

Chorus
The program is a big success
I want you all to know
I step in here and drink some beer
And ‘round the floor I go
I cut a rug and jitterbug
With every gal I find
I’m on the 2-step program
To dance her off my mind

I keep on thinkin’ that some night
She may wander in
I don’t believe she’d like the look
Of all my brand new friends
I’ve spun around with every gal in town
They’ve all been very kind
They know I’m on the 2-step program
To dance her off my mind

All Hanky, No Panky
Steve Carter/Erik Moll (Born Liar music/ Erik Moll music) )

I really love the girl next door
She’s so innocent and pure
When we go out on friday night
She never lets me hold her tight

Chorus:
All hanky, no panky
The little lady’s pullin’ on my string
All hanky, no panky
makes a man do wild and foolish things

Over on the other side of town
Where the pretty people party down
I know a girl who likes to tease
She never listens to my pleas, honey please

Why am i always losin’ out in this lovin’ game
Every move i make winds up the same
All hanky...

Redneck Level
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter/Jerome Earnest (Mad Moe Music/Born Liar Music) )

Fancy words are comin’ out of your mouth
I ain’t too sure what your talkin’ about
I’m tryin’ real hard just to understand
But you’ve got to realize I’m a simple man
I ain’t a lawyer, I’m just a rebel
So, bring it on down to the redneck level

I haven’t bought a computer yet
And I ain’t never surfed on the internet
You won’t find me sittin’ home every night
‘cause honky-tonk dancin’ is what I like
As for beer, you better give me several
To Bring it on down to the redneck level

Chorus
The redneck level is the bottom line
It’s what everybody understands all the time
So, don’t talk to me like a silver tongued devil
Just bring it on down to the redneck level

I like Sunday dinner with all my clan
I like cornbread cooked in an old black pan I like fishin’ and tyin’ flies
Wide open spaces and starry skies
I get in the truck, put the pedal to the metal
To bring it on down to the redneck level

No Fences
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter/Jerome Earnest (Mad Moe Music/Born Liar Music)

When we met you were free as the open range
Shortly thereafter things began to change
The holes were dug and the posts were set
A mile away’s about as close as I can get

Chorus
No fences
I’ve come to my senses
Don’t put me in past tenses
I’ll find a way through your defenses
Between you and me I want no fences

I must have been a sight last Friday night
I tried to jump a fence and come and set you right
I was out there bleedin’ with my soul on fire
Tangled in the strands of your cold barbed wire

The grass is always greener on the other side
That’s exactly where you chose to run and hide

Nothin' But A Hillbilly
Steve Carter/Alan Moe Monsarrat/Erik Moll (Born Liar music/Mad Moe Music/Erik Moll Music)

I met my baby at a barn dance
We had a slow old-time romance
When she took me home for supper
I met her sister and her mother
I went fishin’ with the old man
When i asked for his daughter’s hand
He said-don’t be silly -

Chorus:
She ain’t nothin’ but a hillbilly
Never goes to the big city
She loves the simple country life
She sure is pretty
She don’t drive a fancy car
She don’t like to travel far
She’s a corn-fed farm-bred filly
She ain’t nothin’ but a hillbilly

In the mornin’ when she’s makin
’The bicuits and the bacon
I’m goin’ out to chop some wood
Man that coffee sure smells good
I’m grateful to be givin’
This lovin’ that i’m livin’
And she makes hot chili

In the evenin’ when the chores are done
Moonshine and the settin’ sun
Later underneath the covers
She’s the queen of lovers

Silky Sue
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter ( Mad Moe Music / Born Liar Music)

It was a rainy night up in Kentucky
That was the night that I got lucky with you
Little silky Sue
You were workin’ in a bar on the access road
Where the radiator blew and the truck got towed, it’s true
Little silky Sue

Silky Sue what are you gonna do
When the sun goes down
Paint the whole town red
Or just lie in bed And roll our eyes around
When I hear that moanin’ of the old freight train
The fever rises up in me again
Well, I ain’t never loved anybody else like you
Little silky Sue

We lit out of town like a prairie fire
I had big dreams and a strong desire for you
Little silky Sue
We rolled on down to Dothan Alabama
Set up house and had a kid or two
They looked just like you

Silky Sue what are you gonna do
When the sun goes down
Paint the whole town red or just lie in bed
And roll our eyes around
When I open up the window and it smell like rain
The feelin’ washes over me again
Well, I ain’t never loved anybody else like you
Little silky Sue

BIRD ON A WIRE
Steve Carter/Erik Moll (Born Liar Music/Erik Moll music)

CHORUS:
Bird on a wire singin’
Callin’ your name
Bird on a wire singin’‘
Bout a cheatin’ game
Bird on a wire singin’
I can’t believe it’s true
Bird on a wire singin
’Songs about you

You’ve been seen in a black limousine
On the other side of town
I keep on callin’, you keep stallin’
Same old run-around

You’ve been prancin’, slow dancin’
For everyone to see
But you’re mistaken if you think
It won’t get back to me

That little bird is spreadin’ the word
About how you’ve been carryin’ on
Pretty soon he’ll change his tune
Tellin’ you i’m gone

Mother Of My Teardrops
Bobby Shields

I hear the tappin’ of my teardrops
On the bar, where I’m sittin’
And I just noticed there’s one fallin’ in my brew
And the idea just hit meSince you’re the mother of my teardrops
I decided to name them all after you

Chorus
The first one I’ll call woman
The second I’ll call lie
I don’t think I can name ‘em
(Half) As fast as I can cry
The third one I’ll call beauty
For the color in your eyes
And the last one, when it gets here
I’ll call goodbye

Now I know woman is a good name
And it suits you to a T
And lie, well that’s a harsh name, but it’s true
And beauty, that’s a strange thing
To be callin’ a teardrop
But remember I named them all after you

Georgia Moon
Alan Moe Mosarrat/Steve Carter (Mad Moe Music/Born Liar music)

I know a feller out in the woods
He cooks moonshine and he makes it good
Yonder in the holler just over that hill
Is where he’s cookin’ his moonshine still
Go tell momma that we’re huntin’ coon
I’ll get you a jug of that Geargia moon

Chorus
Georgia moon shines like no other
One for me and one for my brother
You’ll wake up thinkin’ you’re gonna die soon
If drink any more of that Georgia moon

The Baptists had a picnic down by the pond
So, we went down there to have some fun
Sippin’ lemonade from a big punch bowl
We poured in a bottle of mountain gold
They danced all night and they sang ‘til dawn
The day was comin’ and the night was gone
Preacher said we’re all goin’ to hell, real soon
If we don’t stop drinkin’ that Georgia moon

Grandpa took my arm and he set me down
Said do me a favor on your way to town
Pull up in the holler and honk your horn
Get me a jug of that Georgia corn
Tell that saw-toothed alligator
I’m gonna have to pay him later
I’ll be over by tomorrow noon
To get a little jug of that Georgia moon.

Let's See If He Can Ride
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Jerome Earnest/Steve Carter (Earnest Whitney music/Born Liar music)

With a FFA jacket on his back
And a brand new forty dollar Stetson hat
He signed his name on the dotted line
He was right on the money and just in time
The sign said he had to be eighteen, so, he lied
Let’s see if he can ride
Let’s see if he can ride

Let’s see if this cowboy’s got what it takes
Way down deep inside‘
cause when they open that gate it’ll be too late
To find a place to hide
Let’s see if he can ride
Let’s see if he can ride

There’s cowgirls watchin’ up in the stands
Checkin’ out the Wranglers on the rodeo man
Writin’ down the number that’s on his shirt
She’s gonna look him up later, if her don’t get hurt
She thinks he’s cute in his jeans and boots but first
Let’s see if he can ride
Let’s see if he can ride

Now the bull wants him for dinner
And on the horns of his dillema
Are the eight lonely seconds he must abide
Let’s see if he can ride
Let’s see if he can ride

Like It Or Not
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter (Mad Moe Music/Born Liar Music)

All the pretty little girls they want to dance all night
But I oughta be sleepin’ with my eyes shut tight
I gotta rise up in the mornin’ work all day long
So, like it or not it’s what I gotta do
Just to keep it goin’ on

Like it or not
That’s the way it’s gotta be
You gotta do what’s right
For the whole family
If you wanna be the man
You’ve gotta be strong
So, like it or not it’s what I gotta do
Just to keep it goin’ on

My sweet wife works her fingers to the bone
And I know darn well that she’d rather be home
But the wages are short and money’s real tight
So like it or not that’s what she’s gotta do
Just to make us come out right

Like it or not
That’s the way it’s gotta be
She’s gotta do what’s right
For the whole family
If you wanna be a mom
Oooh, you’ve gotta be strong
So, like it or not it’s what she’s gotta do
Just to keep it goin’ on

Oh the price that you pay
Might seem like a lot
I’d give hour of the day and every penny I’ve got
Nobody said it would be easy
To raise a family
But like it or not
That’s the way it’s gotta be
Like it or not.....

Tex Avery Song(jus’-lak-dat-ol’-woof)
Steve Carter/Alan Moe Monsarrat/Jerome Earnest (Born Liar Music / Mad Moe Music)

I look just like an ordinary guy
I like dogs and trucks and apple pie
Some folks might even call me shy
But a change comes over me when she walks by

That’s when my eyes bug out
And my jaw hits the floor
My tongue gets long and wiggly
And i can’t talk no more
I blast through the ceiling
Like a rocket to the moon (zoom)
I’m just like that old wolf
in Tex Avery cartoons

She walks by with her long red hair
I blow heart-shaped smoke rings in the air
Sparks start flying from my fingertips
I can’t keep the cat-calls from my lips

Well, you know, I tear open my shirt
And my heart jumps out
I bang on the table
I scream and I shout
I’m bouncin’ off the walls
I’m actin’ crazy as a loon
Just like that old wolf
In Tex Avery cartoons

(Gee, is it gettin’ hot in here, or is it just me?)

One Of Your Lies
Steve Carter (Born Liar Music)

It’s two o’clock in the mornin’ and you’re packin’
We’ve played this scene at least a dozen times
Somehow, it all seems so different
Tell me, this is one of your lies

We’ll repeat the same sad conversation
Tomorrow you will change your mind
I’ve grown accustomed to your lyin’
Tell me, this is one of your lies

Baby, please don’t say
This is goodby
Tell me We can still try
Make up a story A good alibi
Tell me, this is one of your lies

And now , you say there’s someone outside waiting
Someone who’ll give you a better life
And I can’t believe what i’m hearing
Tell me, this is one of your lies

Tell me, this is one of your lies

Love Wig
Alan Moe Monsarrat/Steve Carter/Wally Doggett (Mad Moe Music/Born Liar Music)

Bald headed woman put your love wig on
And a little talcum powder up under your arms
‘Cause we’re goin’ honky-tonkin’, gonna do it up right
So, you got to comb it out and put tit on tonight

Chorus
Put it on (love wig)
Baby put it on (love wig)
Sweet little mama I would do you no wrong
Bald headed woman put your love wig on

Put your cigar out and your false teeth in (uh-huh love wig)
‘cause I just got paid and I’m ready to spend (ooh baby, love wig)
We’re gonna tear them honky-tonks to the ground (ooh-ooh-oop, love wig)
When you let all the hair on your love wig down

Now, put it on baby....(Tell me now)

I don’t want the one that you wear to work
And I sure don’t want the one that you wear to church
I got somethin’ for ya and it’s awful big
But you’ve got to put on the (hot damn) love wig

Put it on, baby baby.........
